Practice questions are most useful when they help you discover what you do not understand yet. A high score is useful, but reviewing the reason behind every mistake is more important than simply repeating a test until the answers become familiar.
After completing a test, separate incorrect answers into three groups: concept mistakes, calculation mistakes, and reading mistakes. If you did not know the rule, formula, definition, or principle required by the question, return to that topic before attempting another test.
For calculation mistakes, solve the question again without looking at the explanation. Check each step separately, including signs, units, substitutions, and arithmetic. In Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, a correct method can still produce a wrong answer because of one small calculation error.
When repeating a multiple-choice test, try to explain why your chosen answer is correct before selecting it. Remembering that an answer was option B does not show that the underlying concept has been learned.
A correct answer does not always mean that the concept is fully understood. If you selected an option by guessing or eliminating alternatives without understanding the underlying idea, read the explanation and make sure you can solve or explain the question independently.
A useful revision routine is to practise a topic, review the explanations, and then return to the same topic after a short interval. Questions that remain difficult after several attempts should be added to a personal revision list.
Different subjects require different approaches to practice.
Before choosing an answer, write down the formula or mathematical relationship you intend to use. If an answer is incorrect, repeat the complete solution on paper. Pay particular attention to signs, fractions, units, and values copied from the question.
First identify the principle being tested. In numerical problems, list the known quantities and their units before selecting a formula. In Chemistry, separate questions that require factual recall from those involving equations, moles, reactions, or numerical relationships.
Avoid learning definitions as isolated sentences. Connect structures with their functions and processes with their causes and results. When two answer choices look similar, identify the biological feature that distinguishes them.
Separate dates, names, and terminology from questions about causes and consequences. For History, build chronological connections between events. For Geography and Civics, practise understanding relationships instead of memorising individual statements.
